Electrolysis treats each hair follicle individually with a very fine, disposable, sterile probe with an electric current. The aim – to destroy the follicle’s ability to reproduce, thereby reducing hair growth. Courses of treatment are advised.
Consultation & Patch Test
Electrolysis Pre-Care – Before your treatment
For you to see ultimate results, do not shave or wax up to 4 days prior to your treatment
Avoid using any lotions on the area 24 hours before. (Aloe Vera is ok to use)
Do not use self-tanning agents for at least 48 hours prior to each procedure.
Do not use Retin-A or any other similar Vitamin A compound for at least 48 hours prior to each procedure
The procedure will not be performed if a breakout of cold sores, fever blisters or herpes is present anywhere on the face
Electrolysis should not be performed on sunburned skin
Avoid sun exposure 48 hours prior to your treatment to avoid dilation of blood vessels and use an SPF 30 or above.
If you have recently undergone any other facial treatment procedures, such as microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing, chemical peels, Botox, skin fillers, Facial plastic surgery, etc skin must be completely healed and normalized before receiving treatment
Drink plenty of water the day of, before and after your treatment. Dehydrated follicles are more difficult to treat. Hydration will also help your skin to heal more quickly.
Please state to us any new medication you take, before & whilst having your electrolysis treatment. As it may affect your treatment.
Electrolysis Post Care – After your treatment
Following your treatment, do not touch or scratch the area treated. As bacteria may cause a skin reaction.
Do not wash or wear make – up over the treated area for 24 hours. As it may cause irritation, infection or a skin reaction. Pure mineral make – up is permissible.
Avoid alcohol or perfume-based products.
Avoid excessive sweating. Exercise can be done before your appointment rather than afterwards.
Avoid direct sun exposure, a sunscreen of SPF30 or higher should be used daily throughout your course of treatment. Not wearing sunscreen can cause pigmentation after your treatment. ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN.
Do not swim in a chlorinated pool for the first 48 hours following treatment.
If small scabs appear, do not scratch them away. This can cause scarring. Allow them to fall off naturally. This is natures way of healing the follicle that we have treated. (The scabs are lymph fluid that has drained out the follicle and dried up). Keeping the area moisturised will often curtail the formation of scabs.
Be mindful following your treatment. If any irritation occurs, contact us immediately. We have a 7-day treatment guarantee so we can help you quickly and effectively.
Do not use Retin A or any other similar Vitamin A compound for at least 48 hours after unless directed by your therapist
Avoid using steam, saunas, hooded hairdryers etc for 24 hours following your treatment.
Do not tweeze, wax, epilate or use hair dissolve creams before or after your appointment. The hair can only be clipped off with small scissors. (Please be careful when using scissors).
Please remember that electrolysis is not a permanent hair removal system. It does however help to reduce hair growth. Some regrowth is to be expected after your treatment, but our aim is to treat this hair to make it shorter and weaker.
